In a significant milestone for gender equality and renewable energy, 200 young women graduated today from the #SHINESALONE Project, completing an intensive training program in solar installation. The graduation ceremony celebrated the culmination of months of hands-on learning and technical instruction aimed at equipping participants with essential skills for the burgeoning renewable energy sector.

The #SHINESALONE Project was launched to tackle youth unemployment while addressing the gender gap in the energy industry. Developed in partnership with key stakeholders in energy and education, the initiative offers world-class training in solar technology, electrical systems, safety protocols, and installation techniques.

Today’s graduates not only received their official certifications but also stepped into a growing industry with valuable, job-ready skills. For many, this achievement represents a crucial step toward professional independence and economic empowerment.

The project has gained recognition for its commitment to promoting gender inclusion in STEM fields, particularly within traditionally male-dominated sectors like solar energy. With global demand for renewable energy on the rise, the skills acquired through this program open up a plethora of opportunities, from local installation jobs to positions in project management and energy consultancy.

Graduates expressed their pride and excitement about the future. One participant remarked, “My hijab should not stop me from climbing roofs to install solar panels,” reflecting the determination and ambition of the cohort.

As these 200 young women embark on their professional journeys, they embody the mission of the #SHINESALONE Project: to empower, uplift, and shine—not just individually, but collectively.
