Freetown, 19th November 2025 — Justice Mark Ngegba of the High Court has sentenced a 45-year-old man, Mohamed Massaquoi, also known as “Kokomani,” to a staggering 100 years in prison for armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms.
Massaquoi was found guilty on multiple counts, including conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravation, armed robbery with aggravation, and two counts of unlawful possession of firearms, all violations of Sierra Leonean law.
The offenses took place between July 21 and July 28, 2025, in Freetown, where Massaquoi, along with accomplices, orchestrated an armed robbery that targeted victims Mohamed Marrah and Finda Kamara. During the robbery, they used a firearm to steal valuable items such as mobile phones and a DVD player, totaling approximately Le6,300,000. Authorities also discovered two unauthorized AK-47 rifles in Massaquoi’s possession.
Upon being arraigned, Massaquoi pleaded guilty to all charges, attributing his criminal behavior to drug influence. In a plea for leniency, he mentioned his recent conversion to Christianity.
State Counsel A. Jalloh urged the court to impose maximum penalties for the serious offenses, requesting that the confiscated AK-47 rifles be handed over to the Small Arms Commission for destruction.
In his ruling, Justice Ngegba sentenced Massaquoi to 10 years for conspiracy, 40 years for each count of armed robbery, and 10 years for unlawful possession of firearms. The sentences will run concurrently, leading to a total of 100 years in prison.
