After a three-year hiatus, Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating bookfair, is set to return to Freetown from Tuesday, October 5th to Sunday, October 31st.
The bookfair will be open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday between 10am and 7pm, and on Sundays from 1pm to 7pm. During this period, visitors can browse through over 5,000 titles, including bestselling novels, educational resources, and children’s literature.
In 2021, Logos Hope’s visit had brought joy and inspiration to Freetown, which was still recovering from the devastating effects of the Ebola outbreak. Thousands of visitors, including students, teachers, and families, flocked to the book fair, discovering new authors and titles. The ship’s crew also engaged in community outreach programs, donating books to local schools and libraries.
This time around, Logos Hope promises to be even bigger and better. The ship will host a range of onboard events, catering to all ages and interests. Kids can enjoy storytime, puppet shows, and interactive activities, while cultural enthusiasts can experience music, dance, and art performances showcasing Sierra Leonean heritage.
Youth and leaders will also benefit from workshops, seminars, and discussions on leadership, entrepreneurship, and personal development. Conferences, networking sessions, and training programs will provide valuable opportunities for community leaders.
“Logos Hope’s return is a testament to our commitment to promoting literacy and education in Sierra Leone,” said a spokesperson for the organization. “We believe that knowledge has the power to transform lives, and we’re excited to share this vision with the people of Freetown.”
Don’t miss this chance to embark on a literary journey and discover new titles, authors, and ideas.
The ship is currently is Takoradi, Ghana from 11 Sept 2024 to 30 Sept 2024, and will set sail to Freetown. It is expected in Freetown on 4 Oct 2024 to 1 Nov 2024. From Freetown the ship will be heading to Bridgetown, Barbados from 13 Nov 2024 to 9 Dec 2024.
