A representative of Visio San Fonteres, a key financier of a substance abuse rehabilitation project, recently visited Freetown to assess progress and strengthen partnerships with local stakeholders. The delegation toured project sites, including hotspots where kush use is prevalent, and met with community leaders and beneficiaries.

The visit highlighted the complexity of substance abuse among young people and the need for sustained, community-led initiatives. Community leaders cited social and economic pressures, limited access to youth-friendly services, and stigma as factors fueling substance abuse.

The financier interacted with girls undergoing recovery at a Rehabilitation Home, creating a supportive environment for them to share their experiences. The engagement was deemed encouraging and empowering, helping restore dignity and hope.

Stakeholders emphasized the importance of holistic rehabilitation, combining psychosocial support, skills training, and community acceptance. The visit is seen as a step towards deepening accountability and aligning resources with community needs.

The project requires sustained collaboration and long-term investment to reduce substance use and support recovery, officials said.
