In a significant progress of unlawful possession of drugs, before Magistrate Shar Kekura, Court No 1 Pademba Road Freetown, the prosecution has on Thursday, 19th September 2024, brought its first witness.
The prosecuting Counsel, Idrissa A. Kamara, led in his witness, Tapia Amara, Detective Police Constable attached at Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU), Headquarters at Hastings.
According to the witness, on 22nd August 2024, while on duty at TOCU, a transferred case and enquiry of kidnapping and unlawful possession of prohibited drug was received from The Lumley police station.
The exhibits included: quantity of white substance suspected to be cocaine, quantity of dried shredded leaves suspected to be kush, and quantity of brown shredded leaves suspected to be cannabis saliva.
Other exhibits were one old black electronic, quantity of blue hand gloves and face mask, seven Sierra Leonean passports, one Liberia passport book, two ECOWAS traveling certificates, 2,000 Naira, one Samsung smartphone, $300, Le 1,500, one damaged button phone, and black jeep LNK-002.
The accused was alleged on ten count charges, contrary to Sierra Leone’s laws. Counsel representing the accused person is Zachariah Azibo Kanu.
Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to 24th September, 2024.
