Former police officer Abubakarr Yillah has made another court appearance for an alleged murder case. Sergeant Sulaicin Mukeh Konneh, a key witness from the Homicide Unit, testified against Yillah, recognizing him as a former police officer.
Konneh recalled receiving the murder case involving Fasineh Bangura on July 18, 2022, and conducting house-to-house inquiries at Karene village on August 14, 2022. A postmortem examination was conducted on the deceased, and the results were marked as exhibit A.
Konneh also retrieved an NP 18 pistol with a serial number from the Operational Support Division Coordinator on October 29, 2023, which was treated as an exhibit. He requested a ballistic examination and received a report from the Sierra Leone Commission of Small Arms on November 2, 2023.
The accused was charged with murder on October 19, 2023, but Konneh confirmed that he hadn’t received the report from the small arms commission at that time.
Yillah faces one count of murder contrary to the Offense Against the Person’s Act of 1861. The charge sheet alleges that Yillah murdered Fasineh Bangura on August 13, 2022, at Yana Village in the Tambakh chiefdom, Karena district.
The case has been adjourned to September 27, 2024.
