President Dr. Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has received the prestigious Foreign Policy Association Medal at the 2024 World Leadership Forum Dinner. This honor recognizes his exceptional leadership and contributions to national progress and global diplomacy.
In his acceptance speech, President Bio expressed gratitude, highlighting Sierra Leone’s resilience in overcoming challenges while upholding democracy and good governance. “I am deeply honored to accept this award on behalf of Sierra Leone,” he said.
President Bio’s notable achievements include Passage of the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Act, maintaining a free press, advocating for gender parity, amongst many.
Established in 1918, the Foreign Policy Association promotes informed discussions on U.S. foreign policy and global issues. This award signifies a significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s diplomatic history.
“Leadership is about service and trust,” President Bio emphasized. “Our duty is to uplift, unite, and pursue justice for the people we represent. History will remember us not by the titles we hold, but by the difference we make in people’s lives.”
As a member of the United Nations Security Council, Sierra Leone continues to contribute to international peace and security. President Bio’s growing influence in global leadership has earned him this distinguished recognition.
