No QR Code, No Travel: Digital Health Pass Now Mandatory for All Passengers

Freetown, June 18, 2026 A digital health declaration is now compulsory for every passenger entering or leaving the country, as authorities roll out tighter disease surveillance at all ports of entry.

The Ministry of Health and the National Public Health Agency issued the directive Wednesday, requiring travelers to complete a Health Declaration and Travel Information Form through the official Health Travel Portal.

Passengers must register online and submit the form within 72 hours of their scheduled trip. The system also requires travelers to input their final seat number and retain a confirmation QR code or reference number for inspection.

Officials cautioned that false or inaccurate information could lead to travel delays, denied boarding, or mandatory additional health screening. Physical health checks may still be carried out on arrival, with port staff providing guidance as needed.

For those facing technical difficulties, designated health personnel will be available at all official entry and exit points to assist with the portal.

The NPHA said the measure strengthens early detection of communicable diseases and safeguards public health. Compliance is now required for travel clearance.
