The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs has held discussions with a joint delegation from the Mano River Union Secretariat and the African Development Bank to advance regional cooperation on peace, security, and sustainable development.
The courtesy meeting, chaired by Deputy Minister Buakai Bindi Hindowa, was also attended by Permanent Secretary Aminata Sannoh, Chief Director Charles Vandi, Acting Director of Gender Affairs Hannah Robinson, and Acting Director of Children’s Affairs Daniel Albert Gbow.
Deputy Minister Hindowa welcomed the delegation and said the Ministry remains committed to strengthening partnerships with the MRU Secretariat and AfDB. He noted that sustained collaboration is critical to promoting gender equality, protecting children, and consolidating peace across the sub-region.
Talks focused on the MRU Secretariat’s proposal to establish a Sub-Regional Observatory on Fragility and Resilience. The proposed body is intended to monitor threats to stability, support security efforts, and build resilience in Mano River Union member states. The delegation briefed the Ministry on the Observatory’s structure, objectives, and shared regional vision.
Chief Director Charles Vandi welcomed the initiative and reiterated the Ministry’s support for partnerships that advance gender equality, safeguard children’s rights, and contribute to peace and inclusive development.
The Ministry said it will continue to pursue strategic collaborations aimed at improving the lives of women, children, and vulnerable communities in Sierra Leone and across the Mano River Union.
