A mother, her daughter, and a third man were remanded to correctional facilities on Monday after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on murder charges.

The accused are 61-year-old businesswoman Sylvia Wlatee, 24-year-old petty trader Esther Wlatee, and 41-year-old Milton Brown.

They face two counts: conspiracy to murder contrary to Section 4 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861, and murder contrary to Section 1 of the same Act as amended by the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act, 2021.

Prosecutors allege that on Thursday, 11th June 2026, at No. 12 Sewa Street, Kroo Town Road, Western Area, the three conspired with others unknown and murdered Hannah Williams.

The charges were read to the defendants, but no plea was taken since the matter is at the preliminary investigation stage.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric Deen, Esq., prosecuting, told the court that the charge sheet and police inquiry file had been served on the defence.
Defence counsel M. Sesay, Esq., confirmed receipt and requested an adjournment to study the file ahead of cross-examination.

Magistrate Jah denied bail. Sylvia and Esther Wlatee were remanded at the Female Correctional Centre, while Milton Brown was remanded at the Male Correctional Centre.

The matter was adjourned to 16th July 2026 for continuation of preliminary investigation.
