The Kabala Police Division has intercepted 22 people, including 12 children, who were allegedly preparing to travel to Guinea from Gbinndi Park in Kabala Town.
The interception took place on August 30, 2026, according to Radio Shalom. Police said the group comprised 10 adults and 12 children. Of the adults, one was male and nine were female. The children included five boys and seven girls.
All 22 individuals were taken into police custody as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the planned journey, with particular focus on the involvement of minors.
The incident has raised concerns over the movement of children across the border. Police are working to establish the identities of those involved and to determine the purpose and arrangements behind the trip.
Representatives from the Civil Society Unit, including Madam Mankie and Steaven Gebrila Mamaya, were present during the operation, Radio Shalom Court and Human Rights Reporter Jennifer P. Mansaray reported.
Police have not yet released the identities of the individuals or disclosed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the planned movement.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the group’s intended travel to Guinea.
