FREETOWN, September 22, 2026 — Africell Sierra Leone and Street Child have launched the 13th Edition of the Sierra Leone Street Child Marathon, slated for Sunday, October 25, 2026 in Makeni.
The launch was held on Tuesday, September 22, at Africell headquarters in Wilberforce, Freetown, with officials from Street Child, Africell and the Sierra Leone Athletes Association in attendance.
This year’s marathon will feature four categories: 5K, 10K, 21K Half Marathon and 42K Full Marathon.
Africell Media Manager Abdul Karim Sesay reaffirmed Africell’s commitment to Street Child, describing the marathon as more than a race but a platform for children’s education and empowerment. He said Africell will provide technical, media and graphic support to drive participation.
Street Child Country Director Emmanuel Kelfa Kargbo said the event promotes healthy living while supporting education. He disclosed that Street Child is nearing completion of 55 schools nationwide and that over 1,000 participants had already registered before the official launch.
