CONAKRY — Sierra Leone’s Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis, and Guinea’s Minister of Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts, Moussa Sylla, have agreed to expand cooperation in tourism, culture and heritage through joint cross-border initiatives.
The agreement was reached in Conakry on 5th October 2026 during Minister Tunis’ working visit to her Guinean counterpart.

Minister Sylla proposed a Memorandum of Understanding covering culture, tourism and heritage, including collaboration on UNESCO World Heritage nominations.
Minister Tunis invited Guinea to participate in two major international events Sierra Leone will host — the One Nation Reggae Festival and the 3rd UN Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Africa.
The ministers also explored culinary exchanges and the possibility of opening Sierra Leone’s Coastal Unity Boat Race to teams from Guinea and Liberia.
Meanwhile, Minister Sylla invited Sierra Leone to Guinea’s maiden Djembe Festival scheduled for December 2026, which Minister Tunis welcomed.
