FREETOWN — Chief Justice Komba Kamanda and the Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Chernor Mamoud Jalloh, have pledged to strengthen collaboration to enforce social security laws and safeguard workers’ pension rights.

The commitment was made on Tuesday, 20th October 2026, during a courtesy visit by the NASSIT Director General to the Chief Justice at the Law Courts Building in Freetown.

Chief Justice Kamanda congratulated Mr. Jalloh on his appointment as head of NASSIT, expressing confidence that his leadership will consolidate the Trust’s gains and enhance its mandate to provide social protection for Sierra Leonean workers.

In his response, Mr. Jalloh lauded the Judiciary for its critical role in adjudicating social security matters through the Social Security Court, especially in cases involving employers who default on statutory contributions for their employees.

He emphasized that sustained judicial cooperation is vital to promoting compliance, strengthening accountability, and ensuring that workers receive the benefits due to them upon retirement.

Mr. Jalloh further reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining regular engagement with the Chief Justice to deepen institutional cooperation and ensure effective enforcement of the NASSIT Act.

The meeting underscored the shared resolve of both institutions to ensure employers meet their legal obligations and that no worker is denied their rightful social security benefits.
