CRCSL Hold General Synod to Strengthen Church Leadership

The Christian Reformed Church Sierra Leone (CRCSL), established in 2005 as a church stemming from the humanitarian organization CES, recently held its general Synod from November 13 to November 16, 2024. This important gathering took place at the church’s headquarters located at 1 Mile LCC Worship Center on Makeni Road, Kabala.

Chaired by the national president, Reverend Moses M. Jawara, the Synod, brought together delegates from the church’s four Regional Church Councils (RCCs): Alikalia, Kabala, Bo, and Freetown. The attendees included the president, vice president, general secretary, board of trustees, RCC chairpersons, pastors, and various elders. According to Rev. M. Jawara, the purpose of the annual gathering was to realign the church’s mission with contemporary reality of the socio-cultural realities of the environment within which the church functions. The synod discussed pressing issues affecting the church and sought practical collaborative solutions to enhance its mission.

Rev. Jawara also stated that the secondary goal of the Synod was to provide a platform for church leaders and elders to deliberate on important matters, guided by the Lord, for the advancement of the church’s mission in the coming years.

In a statement released by the church, the next Synod is scheduled for November 2027, where significant decisions will be made, including the election of the mission’s next president and vice president, respectively.

The CRCSL press release expresses gratitude to the Almighty God for the “growth and guidance experienced in its journey to expand His Kingdom in SierraLeone. Shalom.”
