President Bio Unveils Sierra Leone’s National Security Policy and Strategy President Julius Madda Bio has on Thursday 8th August 2024 launched Sierra Leone’s National Security Policy and Strategy (NSSP), a landmark initiative designed to guide the country’s security landscape and address key strategic concerns.
During the launch event, President Bio delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing the critical role of the NSSP in harmonizing the activities of various national security agencies.
He outlined the specific responsibilities of each security actor, the decision-making processes during crises, and the conditions under which security forces may be deployed.
The policy also sets the framework for cooperation between security entities and outlines Sierra Leone’s involvement in peace operations and international interventions.The NSSP is expected to become the cornerstone of Sierra Leone’s national security framework, providing essential guidelines for threat assessments and responses.
President Bio stressed that effective governance is integral to national security, noting that instability is the greatest threat to the nation’s safety. He underscored that maintaining national security is a collective duty that directly impacts
Sierra Leone’s stability and prosperity. The President declared that national security is paramount and should never be compromised in the pursuit of development.The NSSP will ensure that Sierra Leone remains vigilant and prepared to address any challenges to its security and sovereignty.
