Mortai Abdul Charles Sesay has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre following his arraignment at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 on charges of burglary and malicious damage. The ruling was made by Magistrate Kakura on Tuesday, April 9, 2025.
Sesay faces two counts: burglary, in violation of the Larceny Act of 1916, and malicious damage under the Malicious Damage Act of 1861. These charges arise from an incident at the residence of Isatu Conteh in Kamayama, Lumley, where he allegedly broke in with the intent to steal and damaged an electricity meter valued at Le3,500.
During the court proceedings, Conteh testified that on the night of the alleged crime, she heard suspicious noises near her electricity meter around 9:00 p.m. Upon investigation, she found the meter tampered with and discovered Sesay on her property. She raised an alarm, leading to his apprehension until police arrived the following morning.
Citing the seriousness of the offenses, Magistrate Kakura denied bail for Sesay and scheduled the next court appearance for May 12, 2025.
