PADEMBA ROAD, Freetown – Abubakarr Sesay, a 25-year-old welder, faced Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on charges of fraudulent conversion of iron rods valued at 28,080 leones. The incident allegedly took place in February 2025 at Damaya, Hill Station, within the Western Area of Freetown.
Court proceedings revealed that Sesay is accused of unlawfully converting 156 lengths of half-inch iron rods, which had been entrusted to him by Abubakarr Tarawally for safekeeping. During the session, the charge was read and explained to Sesay, who did not enter a plea and appeared without legal representation.
Magistrate Kekura, citing the seriousness of the allegations, denied Sesay bail. The case has been adjourned, with a follow-up court date scheduled for May 23, 2025.
