Theft: Man Convicted For Le 2,500

Amza Kabba, a twenty-five year old man, had been convicted to the male correctional centre for Two Thousand Five Hundred Leones when he pleaded guilty, before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at court No.2 Pademba Road. 

In the matter between Ansu Bamba and Amara Kabba and others mad their first appearance in court No.2 on two count charges: To wit Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916 and Receiving stolen goods contrary to section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916. 

However, according to the charge sheet on Monday, 1st July 2024, at Sea View, Hill Station the Mountain Rural District in Freetown the first accused Amaza did steal one Tecno pop 5 mobile phone valued Two Thousand Five Hundred Leones (2,500) property of Ansu Bamba. And the other count further stated that the second accused, on the same date and place did receive property of Ansu Bamba knowing same to have been stolen When the charges was read and explained to the accused persons, the first accused person pleaded guilty whilst the second pleaded not guilty. 

The prosecutor Sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy told the court that the fact charged no criminal records against the first accused person.  The second accused was acquitted and discharged.The first accused pleaded for the bench to temper justice with mercy on his behalf.  Due to the plea mitigation by the accused, Magistrate Bangura said he didn’t waste the courts time,and he is a first time offender he sentenced him to one year imprisonment to the male correctional facility in Freetown.
