Government Begins FY 2025 Budget Preparation

The Ministry of Finance has announced in a press statement that the commencement of the budget preparation process for 2025 fiscal year has begun.

The exercise will kick off with a National Policy Hearing on Thursday, August 15th, 2024, at the New Brookfields Hotel, in Freetown.

However, the policy hearing will be followed by bilateral budget discussions with all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) from August 19th to 30th and that the discussions aim to align budget allocations with the government’s Big-Five development agenda and the National Development Plan.

Therefore, the Ministry is urging MDAs to submit detailed strategic plans and budget proposals to support government priorities. Development partners, NGOs, and civil society organizations are also invited to participate in the consultative process. Meanwhile, the FY 2025 budget is expected to outline the government’s spending plans for the upcoming year and contribute to the country’s overall development goals
