Senior State House Correspondent Hawa Yannah Moseray Laid to Rest

Saint Paul’s Quasi Parish, Regent, 15 August 2025 – Family, friends, and colleagues gathered today to bid farewell to Mrs. Hawa Yannah Moseray, Senior State House Correspondent for the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), who was laid to rest at Wilberforce Cemetery following a funeral mass.

Mrs. Moseray passed away on 2 August 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and professionalism within the Sierra Leone media landscape. Known for her distinctive voice and authoritative reporting, she was a beloved figure at SLBC.

In his homily, Reverend Father Ambrose Michael emphasized hope and resurrection, stating, “Hawa was running the race to the finish in her work and family life and is now receiving the crown of glory.”

Tributes highlighted her passion and discipline. Her elder sister, Madam Bintu Tommy, remembered her as the family’s news bearer, saying, “Aunty Hawa was the root and joy-giver of our family.” Her son, Derick Lansana, described her as a disciplinarian whose kindness and impact will be deeply missed.

Fudia Kona Kowa from the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John honored Mrs. Moseray’s loyalty, saying, “Her memories stay, but her loyalty remains.”

The final commendation by Reverend Father Francis Tommy reminded attendees of their faith’s promise of reunion: “Let us console one another with the hope of seeing Hawa again.”

Mrs. Hawa Yannah Moseray’s legacy as a journalist, mentor, and devoted Catholic will inspire many within the SLBC family and beyond.
