In a significant move for youth development, the Ministry of Youth Affairs (MOYA) has signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sierra Leone. This strategic alliance aims to create new opportunities for young people across the nation by focusing on skills development, entrepreneurship, and pathways to sustainable employment.

During the signing ceremony, Hon. Ibrahim Sannoh, the Minister of Youth Affairs, reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to prioritizing youth in the country’s developmental agenda. He described the MoU as more than a policy framework; it is a vital call to action that empowers Sierra Leone’s youth with essential tools and knowledge for success.

“This partnership embodies our vision to ensure that no young person is left behind. By investing in skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship, we are securing not only the future of our youth but also the future of Sierra Leone,” stated Hon. Sannoh.

The MoU highlights a shared understanding that young people are essential to Sierra Leone’s progress and prosperity. Through this collaboration, MOYA and UNDP will enhance existing youth empowerment programs, align them with international standards, and broaden their impact across the country.

This initiative also aligns with global commitments, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by fostering inclusive growth, reducing inequalities, and creating a supportive environment for youth to realize their full potential.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs continues to take the lead in mobilizing partnerships and resources to ensure that Sierra Leone’s youth act as a driving force for positive change and sustainable development.
