The government has triumphed in its bid to host the Pan Africa Hash (PAH) 2027, following a competitive selection process held in Ghana that involved representatives from 34 African nations. This significant achievement establishes Freetown as the official host city, marking a pivotal moment for the Sierra Hash House Harriers (Sierra H4) and positioning the country as a key destination for continental events.
The successful bid was bolstered by the strong support of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, led by Hon. Nabeela Farida Tunis. The Ministry’s strategic efforts included signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sierra H4, which facilitated transportation logistics with a bus for Hashers traveling to Liberia en route to Ghana. Additionally, an official endorsement letter from Permanent Secretary Judith C. Jones and a compelling video message from Minister Tunis significantly strengthened the bid’s appeal.
In preparation for this momentous event, the government has pledged to deliver an exceptional hashing experience. Participants can look forward to exhilarating beach runs, scenic rainforest trails, vibrant city circles, and unforgettable after-parties, all showcasing the country’s renowned hospitality, rich culture, and adventurous spirit.
This victory not only reflects the ambition and dedication of Sierra H4 but also enhances the nation’s reputation as a burgeoning tourism destination capable of hosting international events. As the countdown to PAH 2027 begins, the message is unmistakable: the government is ready, Sierra H4 is poised for success, and history awaits in Freetown.
