The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has successfully completed a transformative training initiative for 100 women-led and women-owned Very Small Enterprises (VSEs) in Sierra Leone, under its Empowering Women-Led and Women-Owned Small and Micro Enterprises (EWASME) project.

Participants engaged in an extensive capacity-building program that encompassed essential topics such as business development, governance, financial management, and mentorship. This training is aimed at fortifying the participants’ business foundations and fostering sustainable growth.

In addition to the training, each enterprise will receive a matching grant to invest in productive assets, enhance service delivery, and expand operations. Over the coming year, the entrepreneurs will benefit from ongoing mentorship to assist them in applying their newly acquired skills and addressing real-world business challenges.

The EWASME project is strategically designed to empower women entrepreneurs to scale their businesses, contribute to local economic development, create jobs, and promote gender-inclusive growth. According to UNDP, these women are becoming role models in their communities, inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.
