A witness testified in the trial between the state and Sheku Kabba, alias “I.D. Card”, and others, before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Court No. 2, Pademba Road. The witness, a miner from Kono, described how the diamond was found and stolen at the Peyima Town mine.

According to the witness, Sasco and A Boy found the diamond while working in the mine. A Boy took it from Sasco and gave it to T Boy, the second accused, who then handed it over to Sheku Kabba. The accused were excited and ordered everyone to leave the mine.

The witness also described how the accused visited her at home and asked her to deny any knowledge of the diamond. They also promised her money in exchange for her silence.

During cross-examination, Defense Counsel Jessie Jengo asked how the diamond was picked up and if A Boy took it from Shar Moywa. The witness confirmed her previous statement.

The presiding Magistrate adjourned the matter to September 9, 2024.
