Prosecution Witness Testify in Kush Manufacturing Case

The trial of Michael Wright, accused of manufacturing Kush, continued on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Court No. 2, Pademba Road, Freetown. The prosecution led its first witness, Detective Sergeant Obi Wilfred Koroma, who testified about the investigation.

Koroma stated that he obtained a file containing reports and forensic analysis on the prohibited drug. He also obtained a contemporaneous caution statement from the accused on July 29, 2024, and a further statement on August 5, 2024, which was recorded and thumb-printed by the accused.

The witness concluded by stating that he charged the accused with manufacturing, preparing, and supplying prohibited drugs without lawful authority.

During cross-examination, defense counsel Thomas M. Conteh asked where the witness obtained the files tendered in court. Koroma replied that he received them from the Anti-Drug Unit Operation Security Department Headquarters.

The matter was adjourned to September 9, 2024.
