In the early hours of Saturday, security forces at the Bandama/Wanjama Checkpoint intercepted a fuel tanker allegedly transporting a significant quantity of dried leaves believed to be cannabis sativa.
The tanker, registered as AKJ 785, was operated by Joseph Kanneh, a resident of 4 Nyamui Street in Kenema. The interception occurred around 2:50 a.m. during a routine inspection conducted by police.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Kanneh claimed the illicit cargo was loaded by an unidentified passenger who boarded the vehicle between Mile 91 and Moyamba Junction. This individual remains at large.
The case has since been transferred to the Kenema Police Station for further investigation. Authorities have initiated a manhunt to locate the fugitive suspected of involvement in this drug trafficking operation.
