The Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) has announced a temporary closure of the Dambala Bridge along the Bo-Yele-Matotoka Road from December 16 to December 22, 2025, for essential restoration works.

This closure follows a partial collapse of the bridge two months ago, which occurred when a truck crossed over it. The SLRA emphasized that the decision to close the bridge is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all road users during the repair process.

In a public notice, the SLRA reported that it will collaborate with DIG Contractors to carry out the necessary reinstatement work, restoring the bridge to a safe and functional state. The authority cautioned that all traffic will be prohibited on the bridge throughout the week-long closure, affecting motorists, commercial motorbike riders, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.

Upon completion of the repairs, the bridge is expected to reopen to traffic on December 23, 2025. The SLRA extended its apologies for the inconveniences arising from the collapse and subsequent closure.

The agency also appealed to the public for their understanding and cooperation during this period, reiterating that such measures are vital for maintaining a safe, reliable, and sustainable national road network. The SLRA is committed to keeping the public updated and ensuring the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians across its roadways.
