A Vision for Leadership: Alfred Sesay and Lala Bayani Sidibe

At Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, a new wave of leadership is emerging, spearheaded by two dynamic individuals: Alfred Sesay and Lala Bayani Sidibe. Both are third-year students who embody the aspirations and potential of their peers, committed to creating a more inclusive and empowering environment for students.

Alfred Sesay, a dedicated third-year Law student, is vying for the presidency of the Students’ Union Government. His academic journey is marked by seriousness and determination, beginning at Murraydeen Preparatory School and continuing at Bilingual High School, where he demonstrated focus and responsibility. Alfred’s impressive tenure at the Sierra Leone Grammar School set him apart as a leader; he earned the title of Best Debater and played key roles in the Literary and Debating Society.

Alfred is not only a gifted speaker but also a committed advocate for student concerns. His leadership skills were further showcased when he served as the Interim President of the Literary and Debating Society, where he worked tirelessly to reinvigorate the club. Beyond academics, he is deeply involved in initiatives that address pressing issues, such as agricultural innovation through projects like Farm 360. As Vice Chairman of the Sierra Leone Grammar School Alumni – FBC Chapter, he actively engages with peers to ensure their voices are heard and valued.

In tandem with Alfred’s aspirations is Lala Bayani Sidibe, who is contesting for the position of Vice President of the Students’ Union Government. A proud alumna of Methodist Girls’ High School, Lala is currently studying Gender and Development Studies, focusing on social justice and gender advocacy. Her commitment to empowering marginalized voices and promoting women’s rights is unwavering.

As the Executive Director of The Empowered Girls Advocacy (TEGA), Lala has led initiatives that champion girls’ rights and education. Her involvement with the YALI Network has further honed her skills in leadership and civic engagement, enabling her to effect meaningful change within her community. With her talent for public speaking and creative expression, Lala uses her voice to raise awareness and inspire action. She stands as a beacon of hope for progress and inclusive governance at Fourah Bay College.

Together, Alfred Sesay and Lala Bayani Sidibe represent a transformative force at Fourah Bay College. They embody a vision of leadership rooted in advocacy, empowerment, and progress. As they campaign for their respective positions, they invite their fellow students to join them on this journey toward a brighter future.
