Akram Dagher’s H&M Logistics Limited Evade NASSIT Contributions, Short-Change Workers

After numerous attempts to meet with Akram Dagher, CEO of H&M Logistics Limited, were scuffed at, aggrieved workers contacted their union to table a formal complaint about their working condition. 

On 10th October 2024, the Railway Plantation Mineral Industry and Construction Employees union (URPMICE) entered a formal complaint against H&M Logistics Limited regarding Non-Compliance with Labour regulations by the company. 

In their correspondent addressed to the Minister of Labour and Social Security and the acting Commissioner of Labour respectively, the union identified a series of regulatory violations which warrant “immediate intervention” by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. 

Included in the laundry list of allegations made in the submission, the union accused Mr. Akram Dagher and H&M Logistics Limited of: Neglect of Leave Allowance Obligations; Failure to Remit NASSIT Contributions; Implementation of Unauthorised “Garden Leave”;

Procrastination in Wage Payment; 

Obstruction of Dialogue with (URPMICE) Executives and Non-Payment of Severance Entitlements.

On Friday, 11th October, DS reached out to Mr. Akram Dagher with a list of questions for his version of the story. He responded with a barrage of insults and derogatory remarks against the Managing Editor of this press. 

On Saturday 12th October, Mr. Akram, through multiple interlocutors, contacted DS to request the suspension of the story. He also requested a face to face meeting with DS on Monday, 14th, October. 

When it became apparent that DS was not going to suspend the story, Mr. Akram Dagher later responded to the questions that were earlier submitted to him for clarification. “In response to the above, currently I am working on putting all their documentation together, and i will invite the Union (URPMICE) to a meeting to settle their matters.” He also stated that “though some of the allegations are not true but during the meeting, I will make it clear.” Further, Mr. Akram stressed that he is a law-abiding person who has always obeyed the law. Additionally, he attributed some of the problems to the absence of his operations manager, who he claimed was “out of the country.”
