In a significant development regarding the investigation into the death of Victor Onie Williams, Alimamy Sall Kamara, widely known as “Almon Sall,” announced on his Facebook page that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has confirmed he is not a person of interest in the case. Williams was pronounced dead on December 5, 2024.
Sall expressed his relief and gratitude for the CID’s findings, stating, “I am happy to report that I have been formally informed by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Sierra Leone Police that they have totally ruled me out of the investigations into the alleged murder of Victor Onie Williams, my late brother, friend, and partner model. May his cherished soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
Recounting his experience, Sall revealed that he was arrested at his home on December 23, 2024, and detained for questioning regarding his whereabouts and social media posts related to Williams’s death. He learned of Williams’s passing through their school’s WhatsApp group and rushed to Rokupa Hospital, where he found his friend’s lifeless body.
“I immediately burst into tears and started to stop people from taking photos,” Sall wrote, detailing the emotional turmoil he faced. Despite confirmation from a nurse that Williams had died, there was confusion among the crowd, with some insisting he was still alive. Sall followed the ambulance to Life Care Hospital, where doctors also pronounced Williams dead.
Describing the emotional toll of witnessing his friend’s death, Sall said, “The feeling of despair is hard to explain. I am still traumatized.” After four days of questioning and thorough investigations, he was released on bail last month.
Today, Sall expressed his gratitude for being cleared, stating, “I am a grateful man today.” He thanked God for guiding him through this challenging period and extended heartfelt appreciation to his family, especially his mother, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, for her unwavering support, including signing a substantial bail bond. He also acknowledged the support of various individuals, including legal professionals, saying, “Many other very good people in society stood up for me… I’m grateful.”
Sall commended the professionalism of the Sierra Leone Police and the CID, particularly the Homicide Syndicate unit, for their conduct during his detention. He concluded by expressing appreciation to his friends, fans, and supporters, promising to be there for them in their times of need.
