APC Receives Police Clearance for Nationwide Pre-Convention Election Tour

By Joseph Momoh, Daily Scope Reporting

The Sierra Leone Police have granted approval for a nationwide pre-convention election sensitization tour organized by the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC). This decision follows a formal request from the party leadership, with the clearance issued on December 12, 2025.

In a letter from the police headquarters, the APC’s Internal Elections Management Committee has been authorized to conduct meetings across the country from December 15, 2025, to January 4, 2026. The tour will encompass all districts, including the Western Area.

The first meetings are scheduled to take place in Kambia, Port Loko, and Karene on December 15 and 16, followed by events in Falaba, Koinadugu, Bombali, Tonkolili, Kono, Kailahun, and Kenema. Additional meetings in Bo, Pujehun, Bonthe, and Moyamba will occur between December 28 and 30, while gatherings in the Western Area Urban are set for January 3, 2026, and the Western Area Rural will follow on January 4.

Meetings will be hosted in APC party offices, with specific timings designated by the police. The earliest meetings will commence at 10 a.m., and the latest will start at 3 p.m.

The police emphasized that this approval is strictly for meetings and does not extend to processions, rallies, or jogging activities. Organizers are reminded to adhere to the Public Order Act of 1965 and the Road Traffic Regulations of 2007, and the use of marshals is prohibited.

The APC is required to coordinate with regional police commanders in each area, with senior police officials tasked with ensuring security throughout the tour. The Inspector General of Police has assured their cooperation, directing all relevant units to take appropriate action.

This initiative comes as political parties gear up for internal activities ahead of the upcoming 2028 national elections.
