U.S. President Joseph R. Biden has announced he will end his candidacy for re-election against Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, as he endorses support for his vice president Kamala Harris. The election is scheduled for November 2024.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Biden said the decision to step down is in the best interest of the democratic party, and United States of American which will enable him to focus on the remainder of his tenure in office.
“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as president and while it has been my intention to seek reelection I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term.”
