A 33-year-old businesswoman, Humunatu Agnes Gbla, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on three counts of assault, including causing grievous bodily harm, wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm against her partner.

According to the particulars of the offense, on August 7, 2024, at Parsonage Street in Kissy, Freetown, Gbla allegedly inflicted grievous bodily harm on Saidu Jalloh with the intent to do so. The second charge states that she maliciously wounded Jalloh on the same date and location. The third count accuses her of assaulting the complainant, resulting in actual bodily harm.

During the proceedings, Magistrate Kekura noted that the complainant had previously informed him that Gbla’s brother and other relatives had physically attacked him, raising concerns about his safety.

Defense counsel Anthony F.E.A. Coker renewed a previous bail application on behalf of the accused. However, Magistrate Kekura denied the bail request and remanded Gbla to the female correctional center.

The case has been adjourned to October 17, 2024, for further proceedings.
