The Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Wang Qing, made a farewell visit to Hon. Chernor Bah, Minister of Information and Civic Education, at the Minister’s office in Freetown, marking the conclusion of his diplomatic tenure.
During their meeting, Ambassador Wang expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Minister Bah and the Ministry for the strong partnership established over the years. He reflected on collaborative initiatives and programs that have fortified the relationship between the Ministry and the Chinese Embassy since its inception in 2023.
Ambassador Wang complimented the Ministry’s professionalism and collaboration, declaring Sierra Leone as a “second home.” He reassured Minister Bah of China’s continued support and emphasized that his successor would build upon the solid foundation laid during his tenure.
In response, Minister Bah shared his surprise at Ambassador Wang’s sudden departure, thanking him for his warmth and dedication. He reminisced about the Ambassador’s early visit following his appointment in 2023, during which Wang pledged support to enhance bilateral relations. The Embassy has since contributed significantly, including capacity-building training for staff and journalists, financial backing for refurbishing the Press Conference Room, and other initiatives crucial for the Ministry’s development.
In closing, Minister Bah extended his best wishes to Ambassador Wang in his future endeavors and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to nurturing the longstanding friendship between Sierra Leone and the People’s Republic of China.
