Chobby Williamson Remanded for Alleged Theft of Le 34,800

In the matter before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pademba Road Court No. 2, Chobby Williamson appeared for trial on one count of shop breaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offense, Williamson allegedly broke into the shop of Aye Kamara at No. 29 Chapel Street, Freetown, on Saturday, August 10, 2024. He is accused of stealing Le 18,000 and $700, which is equivalent to Le 16,800. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at Le 34,800, all belonging to Kamara.

Upon hearing the charges read and explained, Williamson pleaded not guilty.

Detective Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sorie Conteh is prosecuting the case and requested a short adjournment to present the first witness.

Magistrate Bangura denied bail, remanding Williamson to the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to October 14, 2024, for further proceedings.
