Contractor Faces Arrest Warrant Over Alleged Theft of $105,000 FCC Trailer

A magistrate court in Freetown has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Ernest Allieu, a contractor implicated in the alleged theft of municipal property belonging to the Freetown City Council (FCC). The warrant was announced by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah during a session at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Monday, following Allieu’s failure to appear in court.

Allieu is the fifth defendant in a case involving multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit a felony, larceny under the Larceny Act of 1916, and receiving stolen property. The prosecution claims that between July 11 and September 16, 2025, at Queen Elizabeth Road in Kissy Dock Yard, Allieu and four others conspired to unlawfully take possession of a lowbed trailer, registered as AVT 807, valued at approximately $105,000 or over 2.4 million Leones.

The other defendants include Mohamed Allieu Jalloh, a 38-year-old Information Technology technician; Alie Kamara, a 55-year-old businessman; Musa Turay, 35, also a businessman; and Sorie Sesay, a 36-year-old military officer. The prosecution maintains that Allieu specifically received and possessed the stolen trailer.

Due to Allieu’s absence, the charges were not formally read in court during Monday’s proceedings, resulting in delays. His defense counsel, represented by S.M. Fomba Esq., sought immediate bail for the accused, arguing that a formal application could only be made once the charges were presented. However, Magistrate Jah asserted that the court maintains jurisdiction in this situation and proceeded to issue the bench warrant for Allieu’s arrest.

The case has been adjourned and is set to resume on March 16, 2026.
