Musa “Seaport” Kamara, 27, and Cecilia Briggs, 24, appeared in Pademba Court No. 2 to face allegations related to a $30,000 Canadian visa fraud scheme.
The pair has been charged with three counts: obtaining money by false pretenses, conspiracy to defraud, and possession of passports for unlawful purposes.
According to police reports, Kamara and Briggs allegedly conspired to defraud Makalay Mansaray on behalf of Joseph and Elizabeth Kambiama between November 1 and 30, 2024, in Grafton, Western Rural District. Investigations revealed that the accused misled Mansaray into believing they could secure Canadian visas for the Kambiama couple, resulting in a loss of $19,000.
Furthermore, between November 24 and 30, 2024, the duo reportedly collected an additional $1,000 from Mansaray for visa processing fees. On December 24, 2024, they allegedly received another $10,000 under the same false pretenses.
Prosecutor Sergeant Issa Kamara uncovered that Kamara, who claimed to be affiliated with the Sierra Leone Immigration Office, was found in possession of multiple passports, which were presented as evidence in court on January 31, 2025.
The court is expected to continue the investigation on September 24, 2025, when Magistrate Fornah will determine the next steps in the case against Kamara and Briggs.
