The Sierra Leone Teaching Service Commission (TSC) has announced a significant extension of its teacher recruitment drive, now set to close on September 6, 2025. This decision follows an initial deadline of August 15, which resulted in only about 55% of the targeted 3,300 teaching positions being filled, leaving numerous vacancies in schools across the country.
The extension is aimed at attracting more qualified candidates to address the staffing shortages that continue to impact the quality of education in Sierra Leone. Education officials have emphasized that this move reflects the government’s commitment to improving school infrastructure and ensuring that every classroom is adequately staffed.
This recruitment effort is part of broader initiatives to enhance educational standards and provide quality learning opportunities for the youth of Sierra Leone. The TSC encourages interested applicants to utilize this extended deadline to contribute to the nation’s educational development.
To facilitate the recruitment process, teams from TSC Headquarters and the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) will be available in district offices according to the following schedule:
- Monday, September 1: Bo, Bombali, Kambia, Tonkolili
- Tuesday, September 2: Kenema, Port Loko, Kono, Koinadugu
- Wednesday, September 3: Falaba, Kailahun, Karene, Western Rural
- Thursday, September 4: Western Rural
- Friday, September 5: Bonthe, Moyamba, Pujehun, Western Urban
The TSC urges all eligible teachers to take advantage of this extension to secure placements in schools, whether within their current district or beyond.
