Ministry of Finance Launches New Financing Strategy
The Ministry of Finance yesterday, Monday, September 9, 2024, launched a new disaster risk financing strategy aimed at protecting the economy from the impacts of natural disasters.Speaking at the launch, Dr. Alaskan Mansaray, Director of the Fiscal Risk Management Division, said the strategy would improve financial management, increase revenue, and reduce debt risks. The strategy includes measures such as conducting regular debt sustainability analyses, increasing revenue collection, issuing medium-term bonds, producing annual public debt bulletins, and training staff in specialized audits.

The move comes as a response to the growing frequency and severity of natural disasters in the region.

Local stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, saying it is a crucial step towards building a more resilient economy.
