Don’t Forget To Remember

Don't Forget To Remember

Meditate with Pastor Tom

Recently I visited some old friends. As we talked and laughed we often said, “do you remember when…?”. And then we would recall an event or experience and laugh together. There are some things that are of such great impact and significance that they should be remembered frequently . We should remember the birthday of a nation ( as we recently did here in SL). We should remember achievements like graduation and our children’s birthdays, and our wedding anniversary, when we gave our pledge and firm resolve to commit always to love and care for our spouse. Remembering is a gift.
It is a treasure to be exercised .
The elderly writer of Ecclesiastes gives this word of wisdom , “Remember your creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come.”. Oh, the wisdom of this brief instruction! It is the lesson of experience, a certain truth, that in knowing whence you came, you know where and how to go.

Thank you to those who teach us about the source of life and it’s meaning. Yes, for mother’s who explain to us that we are made in the image of God. We are created by design. We are not accidents stumbling along, bouncing thru life like a ball without a course or meaningful direction. No, we are created, and designed by God, and endowed with meaning and purpose. That’s what Solomon has come to realize and proclaim. Remember your creator. Know your creator early in life, so when the difficult and troubling days of life come, you have an anchor for the storms. Learn early that the source of your life and thus your strength for life is given not achieved. Your value is entrusted by God. The earlier you know this the more peace and purpose you will know. Learn and remember you have a Creator, the sooner the better.
Thank you to the mother’s, and all the others who taught us about our God, our Creator. Thank you for the many who reminded us over and over again, so that we remember not to forget, that we have a Creator. That makes us somebody. This is a reminder, not to forget who you are. Thanks for listening.
