A high-level delegation from Sierra Leone’s energy and power sector visited the Sierra Leone Embassy in Cairo as part of their participation in the 21st Congress of the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA), ongoing from September 23 to October 3, 2025. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Ambassador Sadiq Silla, representing Sierra Leone in Egypt.
The visiting team included prominent figures such as Mr. Alpha Samuel Jusu, Board Chairman of the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC); Mr. Milton Gegbai Moiwa, Director General of EGTC; Mr. Andrew Keili, Board Chairman of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA); and Mr. Chernor Sulaiman Jalloh, Technical Director of EDSA.
During the meeting, discussions centered on enhancing regional energy cooperation, particularly the potential for partnerships between EDSA and North African petroleum suppliers. Ambassador Silla reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to supporting these initiatives and facilitating further collaboration.
The meeting also reviewed Sierra Leone’s active engagement in the APUA Congress, highlighting advancements made and discussing future opportunities for the nation’s energy sector. Both the delegation and the ambassador underscored the significance of strategic participation in continental platforms like APUA to foster innovation, attract investment, and promote sustainable development within Sierra Leone’s power infrastructure.
