European Union Accredit New Envoy to Sierra Leone

The European Union has appointed Jacek Jankowski as its new Ambassador to Sierra Leone, succeeding Manuel Muller. A seasoned diplomat with extensive international experience, Jankowski will arrive in Freetown soon to begin his tenure.

Jankowski’s background in diplomacy is robust, having served as Polish Ambassador to Ethiopia and EU Ambassador to Zambia. His appointment comes at a critical time for Sierra Leone, as the nation seeks to enhance its diplomatic and economic ties with international partners.

Born in Warsaw in 1969, Jankowski holds degrees in Political Science, Banking and Finance, and International Relations from esteemed institutions. His career spans significant roles, including work at the Permanent Representation of Poland to the European Union and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland.

Fluent in multiple languages, including English, French, German, and Russian, Jankowski is well-equipped to navigate the complex diplomatic landscape in Sierra Leone. His leadership is expected to build on the strong EU-Sierra Leone relationship, fostering closer collaboration in key areas like development, trade, and governance.
