Rtd. Lieutenant General Patrick K. Lavahun, the newly appointed High Commissioner to Kenya, and Rtd. Major General Dauda Fred Alpha, the Deputy High Commissioner-designate to Nigeria, officially took leave of office today during a formal farewell ceremony at State House. The occasion marked an important transition for both individuals as they prepare to represent Sierra Leone on the diplomatic front.
During the ceremony, both High Commissioners expressed their profound gratitude to His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio for the opportunity to serve the nation in such significant roles. “It is an honor to represent our country abroad, and we are committed to enhancing Sierra Leone’s diplomatic presence,” said Lt. Gen. Lavahun.
In response, President Bio congratulated the appointees and reaffirmed his confidence in their ability to represent Sierra Leone effectively. “Kenya and Nigeria are strategic hubs for investment in Africa. I have no doubt that both of you will work diligently to strengthen Sierra Leone’s diplomatic and economic ties with these nations. You have my full support during your tenure,” President Bio stated.
The President also highlighted the distinguished service of both former military officers, acknowledging their commitment to the nation. “You have served Sierra Leone with honor in the military, and now you embark on a new mission in diplomacy. A lot is expected of you, and I trust that you will serve with the same dedication and excellence. I wish you both success in your new roles. Congratulations and good luck,” he concluded.
