Season Two of a reality show, made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown. He faces two counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offense, in July 2024, at State House in the Western Area of Freetown, Wyndham allegedly defrauded Patricia Sama of $13,000—equivalent to 312,000 Leones—by falsely claiming he could arrange travel to France for George Lucinda Kallon, Ibrahim Sundi, Sama Jalikatu Bah, William Zidan Sonjor, and others, knowing this to be false.
The second count states that on the same date and location, Wyndham also obtained $13,000 and 58,000 Leones from Saffa Kanneh, totaling 370,000 Leones, by falsely pretending he could facilitate travel for Kanneh’s family and relatives to France.
When the charges were read, no plea was entered.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Ibrahim S. Mansaray requested a short adjournment to confer with his witness.
Defense counsel J.M. Kofie, Esq., argued for bail, citing special circumstances that would prevent Wyndham from working independently. He asserted that the allegations would be vigorously defended and that the accused had reliable sureties willing to stand for him. Kofie requested that the court consider Wyndham’s circumstances under Section 79(3) of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965, which allows for bail in special cases.
Magistrate Kekura granted bail to Wyndham in the sum of 200,000 Leones, with two sureties in the same amount, who must reside in the Western Area of Freetown. The bail is subject to approval by the Deputy Assistant Registrar. The court set the next hearing for October 28, 2024.
