In the ongoing murder trial of Abdul Kpaka, Princess Wilson, the manager of Virtues Funeral Home, testified as the fourth prosecution witness, detailing the accused’s profound distress over the body of his deceased girlfriend, Sia Fatu Kamara.
Presided over by Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens, the trial involves charges of murder and perverting the course of justice.
Wilson recounted that Kpaka arrived at the funeral parlor visibly emotional and crying bitterly as Sia’s body was prepared for preservation. She described her role in inspecting the deceased’s body, noting several scratches and a cut lip. When she inquired about Kpaka’s relationship with Sia, he confirmed that she was his girlfriend.
During the proceedings, defense attorney Emmanuel Teddy Koroma objected to the prosecution’s submission of photographs of the deceased, arguing that proper notice had not been given. However, the judge overruled the objection, permitting the photos to be admitted as evidence.
Despite the defense’s arguments for bail, citing Kpaka’s constitutional right to liberty and assurances that he posed no flight risk, the judge denied the application. Kpaka remains in custody as the trial has been adjourned until October 25, 2024.
Kpaka is indicted for the murder of Sia Fatu Kamara, which allegedly occurred on August 13, 2024, in Mambo, Goderich.
