Government Debunk Claim of Lithium Export from Sierra Leone

The Sierra Leone government has categorically denied claims that a company called Elektros has exported lithium from the country. According to the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and the National Minerals Agency, these allegations are completely baseless and fraudulent.

It turns out that Elektros doesn’t even have a mining license in Sierra Leone, and none of the authorized companies exploring for lithium have started production yet. The government is warning the public not to engage in any business related to mining or lithium with Elektros, emphasizing that all claims about lithium exports are entirely false.

This denial comes after reports emerged in the Gleaner Newspaper and on Yahoo Finance, which the government has disputed. The National Minerals Agency has urged stakeholders, including journalists and investors, to verify any claims about mineral exports with them before making business decisions.

“It’s crucial to rely on verified information to avoid spreading misinformation,” said an NMA spokesperson.

The government’s swift response aims to maintain transparency and reassure investors of Sierra Leone’s commitment to responsible mining practices.
