A Liberian national, Ainab Donzo, is currently in custody following her arrest for allegedly possessing and transporting cocaine without legal authorization. Donzo, a hairdresser, was apprehended on October 13, 2024, in Sorogbama Chiefdom, Jendema, Pujehun Province, where authorities discovered four compressed parcels of cocaine in her possession.

She appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, facing two charges under the National Drug Control Act of 2008. The first charge alleges possession of a prohibited drug without lawful authority, as outlined in Section 8(a) of the Act. The second charge accuses her of transporting prohibited drugs without legal authorization, in violation of Section 7(b).

During the court proceedings, Donzo did not enter a plea. The state prosecutor, I.K., requested an adjournment to allow for further consultations with witnesses and to prepare the case adequately.

Magistrate Kekura denied bail, citing the seriousness of the allegations. Donzo has been remanded to the female correctional center in Freetown, and the case has been adjourned for a future hearing as investigations continue.
