High Court Justice Alfred Ganda has warned that he may discharge accused murderer Abdul Kpaka if prosecutors fail to appear at the next hearing, following ongoing delays in the trial concerning the death of Kpaka’s former girlfriend, Sia Fatu Kamara.
During proceedings at High Court No. 2 on June 17, 2025, lead defense counsel Emmanuel Teddy Koroma moved to dismiss the case due to the prosecution’s repeated absences. He argued, “Either discharge my client of these allegations, or close your case to allow the defense to present evidence.” Despite the presence of prosecution witnesses and jurors, State Prosecutor Yusuf Isaac Sesay was notably absent. Koroma expressed frustration, stating, “We’ve been waiting since morning,” and noted that the prosecution had previously acted efficiently in earlier judge-alone proceedings.
Justice Ganda requested Sesay’s contact number from Koroma and personally attempted to reach him but received no response. Koroma added that he had tried to contact Sesay himself and sent someone to his office, only to learn that Sesay had left for another trial while Justice Ganda was sitting in the Appeal Court.
Kpaka faces two charges: murder and perverting the course of justice related to Kamara’s death on August 13, 2024. The case has garnered significant attention following serious allegations that emerged on social media. Proceedings are set to resume on June 24, 2025.
