In a significant boost to education, Hon. Beatrice Maya Kangbia Macavoray has donated school supplies valued at over Fifty Thousand New Leones (Le 50,000) to top-performing students from Tikonko Chiefdom. The donation, made on Thursday, October 24, specifically targeted students who excelled in the recent National Primary School Examination (NPSE).
The event took place in Tikonko Chiefdom, Bo District, and was attended by community leaders, including Paramount Chief P.C. Professor Joe Kangbai Macavoray, officials from the Ministry of Education, and the Coordinator of Free Quality Education. Local educators, parents, and students gathered to celebrate this initiative aimed at rewarding academic excellence and promoting educational growth in the region.
In her speech, Hon. Beatrice Kangbia emphasized the critical role of education in fostering societal progress, stating, “Education is the foundation upon which a society builds its future.” She underscored the transformative power of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering social unity. Hon. Macavoray also praised President Julius Maada Bio’s administration for its efforts in advancing education and highlighted initiatives such as the Feed Salone project, aimed at improving food security.
The donation received widespread praise from attendees, many of whom recognized it as a vital investment in Sierra Leone’s future, inspiring young learners and supporting the nation’s development goals.
